| The Project |
Thirlmere aqueduct carries over 40,000,000 gallons of water daily to the Manchester area. Retaining this valuable commodity and maintaining the asset is paramount to the owners. |
| The Challenge |
TAM was contacted by Ram Services, a Specialist Contractor who had been commissioned to undertake certain remedial activities to sections of the aqueduct. Unacceptable levels of water was being lost on a daily basis through fractures and joints in the aqueduct resulting in lost revenue, damage to the infrastructure along with erosion to the soil surround. The build nature of the aqueduct created tight working spaces. |
| The Solution |
Due to the tight working environment inside the aqueduct, a suitable system had to be adopted which could easily be transported to the leakage locations. With this in mind, Ram Services contacted TAM to discuss the options and after consultation, the use of our hydro reactive polyurethane supplied in cartridge form was suggested. The cartridges along with the application gun proved extremely successful in applying the materials in a confined environment. |
